My 5 Favorite Weekend Destinations

I’m a lover of all trips, no matter how long, but there is something especially fun about weekend trips. Taking a couple days to get away and explore, but not having to break routine by being gone for an entire week. That’s my favorite way to travel. Plus, weekend trips can be booked on the fly and … [Read more...] about My 5 Favorite Weekend Destinations

Texas Road Trip Recap: Amarillo, Austin, and Waco

I think I have officially decided that trips to visit friends are the best. You get to see a city from a local’s perspective, they are normally inexpensive, and to top it all off you get to hang out with a good friend! Talk about an ideal set-up! A couple weeks ago, my sister and I went to Texas … [Read more...] about Texas Road Trip Recap: Amarillo, Austin, and Waco

How to Pack in a Carry On for Every Single Trip

Back in the day, I dreaded packing for trips. I would do literally anything to put it off: clean the entire house, finish all my homework for the next 2 weeks, go on a run… anything. As I’ve traveled more, thankfully packing has gotten a heck of a lot easier! Now I know what I need and what I … [Read more...] about How to Pack in a Carry On for Every Single Trip

How to Travel More in Your Twenties and Why You Should

One of my favorite things in life is being the youngest of four girls. I love having my three older sisters for a thousand reasons, but the biggest might be learning from them. As the youngest, I feel like I have an unfair advantage at life. I get a front row seat to what life might look like … [Read more...] about How to Travel More in Your Twenties and Why You Should

New York City Fourth of July Trip 2019

There is something about New York City that I just can’t get enough of. I suppose there is something about New York City that a lot of people just can’t get enough of. A wild, unexpectedly beautiful, concrete-jungle of a city. I’m a farm kid. Always have been. I was raised in the middle of … [Read more...] about New York City Fourth of July Trip 2019

You know those times in business when everything is on the backend?! Like inventory and site fixes and the nitty gritty branding stuff... yeah, I hate that stuff. 🙅‍♀️ (even though it’s completely necessary)

But lately, it’s all been work my customers will ACTUALLY SEE 🤩 Email lists, Instagram posts, YouTube videos: I’ve been loving it.

That’s all I have to say, no dramatic takeaway. Just that sometimes business is more fun than other times. And lately it’s been one of those seasons! ✨

On the real though, making things we love and putting them out into the world can be really difficult and really scary. 🙈 This one goes out to the creative business owners who are chugging along and taking baby steps to grow their businesses. ✨

Can you tell I’m getting senti over finally having these tees out into the world?! 😂 I’m just happy, OKAY.

⚡️🖥 okay y’all let’s talk Etsy vs. Shop ⚡️🖥 okay y’all let’s talk Etsy vs. Shopify cuz this question gets asked A LOT...

💚 Pros of Shopify: apps and integrations make basically anything possible, more robust backend (for coupons specifically), a good option for all e-commerce sellers (not just handmade)

🧡 Pros of Etsy: cost of entry is lowww, no monthly fee, comes with a “built in market” (this is a BIG. DEAL.)

We have both at Saltwater Prep, but the vast majority of our sales still come from Etsy. It’s a good platform. 🤷🏼‍♀️

If I was just starting out with a handmade business, I’d list on Etsy first. Once I earned some $$$, I would look at stats to see where sales are coming from. That’s when I’d decide if it would make sense to start my own website. 🖥

That’s the cliff notes version, friends! Are you on Etsy or Shopify (or both)??
