I won’t lie, I always questioned “Community Over Competition.” I knew what it was supposed to mean, but I didn’t fully understand how it could work. How could people in the exact same industry — literally direct competitors — raise one another up in business? And while I had ideas of what it might look like, it didn’t all fully click until I was in a room with 300 other photographers, feeling inspired, supported, and motivated by my industry peers.
So far, 2017 has been one for the books. Last December I finished at community college and for the first time in my life when January rolled around, I didn’t go back to school. Whaaaat?! It was a totally foreign feeling at first, but now the thought of going to school sounds, well, honestly? It sounds horrible. BUT because I wasn’t attending college classes, I had incredible opportunities to travel and learn from industry pros for the past 6 months.
Since I started my business, I have attended 5 different workshops/conferences/summits/whatever you want to call them. And while each one was extremely beneficial in it’s own rite, there is one thing I wish I would’ve heard before attending all of them. And that’s this…

Hey y’all! I am SO excited to announce that this April I will be hosting a FREE styled shoot at Busch Wildlife for all photographers to come, hang out, and get some amazing portfolio images!
It is my hope that this shoot serves as a networking opportunity for local photographers to meet each other, learn from each other, and grow alongside each other all while getting a new set of images! Without giving to much away, expect tons of greenery + lavender. 😉
All the details can be found on the Facebook event page HERE. You can go ahead and RSVP through that page as well! I can’t wait to see you there! 🙂
Just a week ago, I had the privilege of attending the first ever 2 day Hope Taylor Workshop in Fredericksburg, VA. Hope is an extremely talented senior portrait and wedding photographer who lovingly welcomed myself and 15 other photographers into her studio to teach us everything she knows about weddings and seniors. Not only did she knowledge drop like crazy, she also planned 2 gorgeous styled shoots for us to practice all the things we had learned! Side Note: I have never seen so many flowers in my life. These shoots were just stunning. If you are looking for some good educational opportunities, I totally recommend the Hope Taylor Workshop! She pours into each and every attendee and makes sure you have all your questions answered before you
