A couple weeks ago I flew out to San Fran (for the first time!!) to attend Justin and Mary’s Walk Through a Wedding workshop in Carmel, CA and before I start telling you about how amazing the workshop was… Carmel was the cutest town on the west coast (might be an exaggeration, but you get the point.) We stayed at the most adorable hotel, ate at the cutest restaurants, and were able to walk down to the beach every morning where people played fetch with their dogs in the ocean. It was a dream. BUT Anyways… what you came for… the workshop:
The workshop was held at the gorgeous Folktale Winery in the valley. On the first day we “walked through” a wedding with Justin and Mary explaining exactly how they would shoot it. This included everything from suggested timelines to lighting to where J and M are throughout the day. At the end of the day, I had learned so much about lighting in particular I thought my mind was going to explode… In a good way.
On the second day we all gathered back in the barrel room (yeah, we were taught in the barrel room of the winery and it was FREEZING) to learn about post and pre wedding workflow, business and marketing strategies, and do another styled shoot. (Side note: The bride’s dress was absolutely to die for!!) We wrapped up the workshop in the sweet, Amandarose’s studio with Pour Girl making drinks for everyone!
Throughout the two days I was in awe of Justin and Mary’s knowledge on photography, marketing, and running an insanely successful photography and education business. If you considering going to their Walk Through a Wedding workshop, you should buy your ticket right now. You will leave with your mind blown and a ton of practical knowledge that you can take with you to your next wedding!
And a huge shout out belongs to all the vendors who made this workshop so amazing:

I was originally scheduled to leave on Friday, until Matt and I realized Monday was a holiday and we could possibly see each other. I quickly switched my flight to leave Monday out of Los Angeles and Matt drove up to Monterey on Thursday night. We hung out in Carmel in the morning, went to see the legendary Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row, and ended the day at Point Lobos State Park where we saw whales migrating through— there had to be at least 30!! The next day we started our road trip down to Malibu and went through San Luis Obispo and Pismo beach and then landed in Malibu! It was such a fun, unexpected trip to see him and made saying goodbye a lot easier… Because I’ll see him tomorrow again! WOOT WOOT! 🙂
