Jupiter, Florida Spring Training Trip 2019

As much as I love Missouri, I hardly ever pass up an excuse to leave and explore the rest of the country. And if it involves seeing a baseball game, I’m doubly sold. Oh, and if it’s freezing here and the Cardinals are playing in Florida… well, you can see where this is going. Let’s just say it didn’t take much to convince myself to join my parents in West Palm Beach for a spring training game this February!
For a while now, I have been trying to dream up ways to hang out with my nieces and nephews one on one. Obviously, being together with the whole family is fun, but I feel like I get to know them and their personalities better when it’s just us hanging out! So I asked my sister if I could take my sweet niece, Caroline on the trip with me. I figured it was the perfect one because we were only staying for 2 days and my mom and dad would be there too!

We only had two and a half days in Florida, so we planned our days to have as much fun as possible and soak up the sun! Here is an outline of what we did:
Day 1
Caroline had never flown before this trip, so the fun started before we even got to Florida. She was an absolute champ through security and loved exploring in the airport. When we got on the plane, she stared out the window in awe for a full hour! After we landed, my parents picked us up and we headed straight for the beach!

When we are in Jupiter, we love to go to Hobe Sound Beach. It’s wide open and easy to swim in. During certain times of the year, you can surf here too. I got a tip from a local to not surf in February, because the sharks are migrating through! Yikes!

From the beach, we grabbed dinner at Rancho Chico in Tequesta. It’s a Mexican restaurant with queso that is to die for! Going here and not getting queso would be a crime against your own taste buds.
For the past 4 years, my parents have always stayed at the Jupiter Waterfront Inn. It is a darling little hotel right on the Intercoastal Waterway. If your trip budget allows it, this is a super fun place to stay! If you are like me and want to go the cheaper route, there are tons of fun AirBNBs in the West Palm/Jupiter area. Oh, and thanks mom and dad for letting me and Caroline crash with y’all! 😉

Day 2
My family is full of early risers. Maybe the midwest farm roots run deep, but it seems like the house is bustling every morning by 6am. So even on vacation, we like to get out and start exploring early!
Every year, we get breakfast at Jupiter Donut at least once. (You are probably catching on that this isn’t really a healthy eating type of trip! Hah!) If you go, make sure to get a breakfast sandwich! They are way more filling and tastier than a donut! But get a donut too, because, vacation.
After breakfast, we went to two different beautiful beaches that were nearby. First, we went to Coral Cove Park. Caroline and I had big dreams of snorkeling here later in the day, but it was way too windy. It was still fun to check it out and the kiddo loved collecting shells on the beach. After that, we went to the Blowing Rocks Conservatory. If you go at high tide, this place is so insanely beautiful!

By the time we were done at the beach, we were ready to catch a Cardinal’s Spring Training game! For almost every sporting event, I get my tickets from the Gametime app. All of my cheapest ticket finds have come from here, so if you are a sports person, I highly recommend downloading it.

You’ll probably be surprised by this, but after the game, we ate yet again! Sometimes I joke that vacations are just killing time between meals. But then I remember my whole life is that way. 😉 On the real, we went to the cutest taco place. It was called PapiChulo Tacos and you have to check it out if you are in Jupiter. Make sure your order the street corn. We killed a lot of time here hanging out, drinking margs, playing ping-pong, and just shooting the breeze!

After that, we went back to the hotel and the kiddo swam in the pool for a while. Once she got tired of that, we went and got a drink at Blue Pointe Bar and Grill. So, really this is just a post about restaurants, apparently! But, if you want to grab a drink in Jupiter I suggest this place and the Square Grouper. Blue Point has outdoor seating with hammocks by the water and a pool right in the middle of the bar! How fun! Rumor has it, Kenny Chesney and Jimmy Buffet recorded “5 o’clock somewhere” at the Square Grouper. It has tiki bar vibes and music every night! 21 and over only, so don’t bring the kiddos, but definitely check it out!

Day 3
Girl’s Day!! While my dad went bike riding with the guys, the girls went to Palm Beach! Starting on Worth Avenue, we explored the beautiful island all morning! From buildings with crazy beautiful architecture to palm lined streets, Palm Beach is the most darling city. Shopping on Worth Ave is fun for the views mostly, but honestly, way too expensive for us! So after we took all the beauty in, we went to the West Palm Beach outlets.

Before we left though, we grabbed lunch at Pizza al Fresco. Amazing food, all outside on the patio with palm trees and flowers and all the pretty things! Shockingly, it wasn’t absurdly expensive either! Definitely check it out, if you are there!

Later on in the day, I went back to Palm Beach to grab acai bowls with a friend at Field of Greens. Like most good conversations, there was no time to take photos of my bowl. So you’ll just have to take my word on this one! 😉
After I got back to the hotel we spent the evening packing up and getting ready for our early flight the next morning! Though heading back to the Missouri cold wasn’t exciting, it is so good to be home for a little while and work!
